Deja Vu? S&P500 Is Up 5X Again

The S&P500 bottommed at 666 on March 6, 2009. The index now is almost at 3333, which signifies a 5X increase in the last 11 years. Prior to this multi year rally, the S&P500 went through 2 bear markets: in 2000-2002 and 2007-2009.

Here’s the chart that visualizes this dynamics:

Guess what? This has happened before. The S&P500 went through 2 bear markets in 1969-1970 and 1973-1975 and then staged a 12 year rally which resulted in a 5X growth of the index. We all know what happened in 1987.
